It WAS Really Early, Remember!

Answers to yesterday’s contest….

1) found cat poop in the corner of my bedroom
Yes, this happened yesterday morning. Buttercup is an indoor/outdoor cat and I’ve never kept a litterbox for him except last February after he was attacked by the dogs. He had to stay inside for a month while he was weak and recovering. Since then, he’s had moments when he thinks there is STILL a litterbox here somewhere…..or should be.

2) discovered I ran over a roofer’s nail and my back left tire is flat
No, this didn’t happen yesterday morning. I’m well-known for finding nails with my tires, however, so stay tuned.

3) spilled an entire cup of coffee on the pale beige living room carpet
No, this didn’t happen yesterday morning. It did happen about a month ago, though, which is why I have a carpet cleaner scheduled…….

4) run out to the high school bus in my t-shirt and underwear to get the driver to wait
Yes, this happened yesterday morning. Not that many people guessed this one, which leads me to suspect that this is EVEN CRAZIER THAN I REALIZED. The high school bus came earlier than I expected–6:15!!!! Luckily, my son had had his shower. I could see the bus turning around in the cul-de-sac in front of our house as if it was getting ready to drive away. I shouted for my son to come downstairs and I ran, YES, I RAN OUT THE DOOR, INTO THE STREET, in my t-shirt and underwear, yelling at the bus to WAIT!!!! Saving graces: the bus driver was a woman, it was still dark, there weren’t very many kids on the bus yet, and the neighbors weren’t out.

I could blame my husband who left for work without reminding me to put my pants on.:fryingpan:

5) lost my glasses
No, this didn’t happen yesterday. I do have glasses, but most people don’t realize it because I almost always wear contact lenses.

Great picture of buttercup. My cat Bumper is now in love with your cat.

  3. Estella Kissell says:

You must live in the country for the bus to come that early.

  4. Jill says:

Here the bus driver would have laughed and kept going …

  5. Melissa says:

Love the picture of Butterboo! It was very upsetting for me to read he’s been attacked by dogs. We had a cat attacked the same way and she didn’t make it. Please get Boo a litterbox and keep him indoors!!!!!!!!!!!

    I hate guessing games.

  6. Mik says:

    MAN.. I knew I shoulda guessed #4. 😛

  7. Amy K. says:

I’m thinking I’d rather DRIVE him in my pajamas than run outside in my underwear! You get a brave mama medal for your act of heroism! :hyper:

  8. Cherlyn says:

Oh you are kiddiing!!!! I just rolled right past that because I thought you were just being creative! :rotfl:

  9. Robyn says:

I got #1 so I made 50%; story of my life!
Congrats to those who guessed right.

  10. Carol says:

    Congratulations to the winners!

I can understand #1 but I never thought you would run after the bus like that! :rotfl:

  11. ArmyWifeToddlerMom says:

    .darn, I really wanted a book…..

would never run out in my t-shirt and panties…..I would look like a cray woman from an episode of cops….

  12. Toni Anderson says:

LOL–I avoided the cat poop answer because I thought I was obsessing 😕

I could do the underwear thing–I can see myself in that situation!! 6.15 am?? Lord that is early!!!

  13. Danica says:

Wow, I can’t believe you actually did the underwear thing! That’s pretty impressive. I’d have probably sucked it up and driven the little rat to school.

  14. Peggy says:

So I’m wondering, how long was the t-shirt? I don’t know why, but for some reason, I pictured some little cropped T? LOL

  15. Emma S says:

Is your son aware that you ran outside in your underwear to stop his bus?
You could always tell him it’s maternal devotion, I guess.
    Ouch!

  16. Maureen says:

You are a bit crazy. I would have just driven my daughter in to school even though it is two towns over with big backups around the high schools.

  17. ruby55 says:

    Congratulations to the good guessers!

Guessing games are not my thing. :loser: I hope you’ll have other types of contests as well.

Poor Buttercup. Maybe he woke up from a nightmare in which the dogs were chasing him again. But that’s a totally adorable picture. So much that you can read into that picture.

Your bus is even earlier than the one my nephews and niece always had to get. They were the first to be picked up each day. Oh, well. I’ll sometimes walk around in LONG t-shirt and underwear and go answer the door like that (if I know the person I look at through the peephole). I can barely “run” so that would be out. But what you did is kind of funny. Frantic Mother Syndrome.:wigglebrow:

  18. Marcy says:

We’re missing the point here….at least she had underwear on! :rotfl:

    Sorry, Suzanne.

    *snicker*

  19. Kelly says:

    Suzanne, great RTB column!!

  20. Mechele Armstrong says:

    LOL congrats to the winner.

and I’m now seeing why the DH said to put pants on….:rotfl:

  21. Darla Dixon says:

Oh well, so much for my intuitive skills!

I was wrong about it all. I guess I will have to pony up my own money to buy a book.

I have run out almost nekkid to take out the trash. The trash guys REALLY enjoy that, and I learned some new Spanish words at the same time.

I would love to draw your cat. That is an adorable pose.

  22. Suzanne says:

LOL on learning new Spanish words, Darla! I would love to hire you to do one of your sketches sometime (you do amazing work) but I’d probably feel guilty if it was my cat since I have children, LOL.
