Free Book Black Friday

Happy Biggest Shopping Day of the Year! What are you shopping for today? Or are you staying home, away from the crazed crowds?

Me, I’d ordinarily stay home on Black Friday. However, the toilet in the kids’ bathroom was destroyed yesterday, so shopping appears to be in order. I would tell you how the toilet was destroyed, but it would involve some very bad words. We have three children. Does that not explain it?
:wall:

Tell me what you’re doing today and I’ll have my daughter pick a comment number to win an autographed book (signed to you or someone else as a gift if you’re in Christmas mode today). Come back tomorrow for the winner!

Can you believe many stores actually opened at 5:00am this morning and one chain of stores opened 1 minute after midnight! Crazy!!! I thought about going out to do some shopping and joining the crowds, but then my sanity came back and I am now enjoying a hot cup of coffee while dressed in my warm fluffy robe and getting ready to enjoy a good book until we have to leave for a luncheon. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and you all are enjoying this great day no matter what you decide to do.

  2. Robyn says:

Our Thanksgiving is over(Canada) so there was no party here yesterday. Today is the same as other days except I don’t have to go to work tonight, yippee! I’ll probably
be trying to organize the house(yuck).

  3. mary beth says:

Revising a requested mansucript. No amount of money could drag me into those crowded parking lots today. DD and I MIGHT go see Harry Potter. She’s already seen it twice, but she wants me to see it too.
I swore I wouldn’t eat today, but the leftover pie is calling my name. So eating more is probably on my list of things to do today too.

  4. Matt Vance says:

My wife and I went to Best Buy, Target, Office Depot, Home Depot, and Lowes. We then went out for breakfast and were back home before 9AM. It was crazy, but fun.

Nice blgo, by the way, I ran across it via Google’s Blog Search.

  5. Gina Black says:

I’m working on my Golden Heart entries! No shopping until they’re in!

  6. Carol says:

I wouldn’t go out there today for anything! I tried it once and never again! I’m doing laundry today. I would rather do that than try to find a parking spot at the mall! πŸ˜†

  7. Lis says:

I’m another canuck, so no Black Friday here. Watching the Isles-Senators game at noon, then typing up some notes i made last night for the wip. Might do a little online shopping tonight if some of my friends ever tell me what they want lol

  8. Caro says:

I have to go to the mall today. Not because I want to do shopping, but my iBook is back from the repair shop, so I have to go to the Apple Store to pick it up. When asked if he would rather wait until Saturday when things would be a bit less frentic, the husband’s response was, “And have to wait another day to get you off my desktop? Don’t be silly.”

While we’re there, we’re going to go ahead and pick up the gift for the children’s home our church does a drive for while we’re at it. But I’d much rather be at home than fighting the hordes. :wall:

  9. Eve says:

A crowd of people all pressing together to get to one item, stepping on people’s toes, elbows to ribs – oh, enough of the food line at yesterday’s meal. I ain’t goin’ anywhere near the malls today! I’m hiding – and recuperating from yesterdays joyfest:rolleyes:

  10. Teresa says:

So far today, I’ve been working on editing a novella. I’ve ate some left over turkey. And now I’m getting ready to brave the outside world by meeting up with my cousin for maybe a little shopping. But that’s cool, because I haven’t seen her in a really long time.

  11. Alyssa says:

I am staying home for most of the day. I might stop at the scrapbook store for some organizing supplies, but I haven’t decided if I will brave the crowd yet.

  12. Fannie M Wiggins says:

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday. I overindulged as usual but Thanksgiving only comes once a year. I hate to go shopping so why would I get out of my warm bed, go out in the cold, fight someone for something I really don’t need and then have to fight traffic just to get back to my warm bed:?:I don’t have stupid written on my forehead:lol: I am just relaxing here on the couch with a good book( Now You See Him by Stella Cameron). That is all I’m doing today.

  13. Chris Keach says:

I’m also avoiding the stores. In fact, I’m not even stepping outside except to get the mail. Instead, I’m watching a horrible display of football from my Texas Longhorns, eating leftovers and reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Oh, and later tonight I’ll be working on some manuscript pages for my CP.

  14. Kendra says:

I’m sitting at home. Normally I go shopping but I’m a little under the weather today, so I’m in my pj’s, eating leftovers, and watching soaps! πŸ™‚

(()) on the toilet. My son once flushed a sailboat down ours and we had to get a new one. :whip:

  15. Maureen says:

I am staying well away from the stores today. We have had our share of destroyed toilets, one time a toilet started leaking when we were at the Christmas Eve service.

  16. Jane says:

I also am staying home today. Taking it easy. A little of this a little of that. (eating leftovers, wash a load of clothes, reading a little, watching TV, maybe some cleaning, whatever I feel like doing at the time.) I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  17. Toni Anderson says:

Oh I’d love to go shopping!! Just don’t want to drag the kids with me πŸ™

  18. Marcy says:

I’m staying home today. This morning I got all the pots washed from the big feast. I also ate some dessert that I was too full to eat yestersday.

  19. Cindi says:

Today I am still on in my pajamas at 1:30 in the afternoon. I opted out of the morning shopping frenzy and instead am watching my three little people decorate the tree after I sorted all the ornaments (breakables for the top half, not so breakables for the bottom half). It’s our day for decorating, and we have all three of ours at our house this weekend so we are just enjoying ourselves.:grin:

Hope you had fun toilet shopping!!!

    C

  20. Jeanette Jackson says:

Also Canadian although we did go shopping today to a store that has a 2 day only sale

  21. StDebb says:

Every Black Friday, I work determinedly at NOT shopping. I loathe crowds, and I refuse to be tempted to go to any store. My sil an bil take great pride in being out and shopping by 5 am, and finished with their Christmas shopping by noon, but I’d rather have my fingernails pulled out one by one.

I had to work today, but I wouldn’t have gone out, even if I hadn’t! I say, if woman had been intended to be out shopping at 5 am, they never would have invented the internet!

    Debbie

  22. Ruby55 says:

Like some others, I don’t have “Black Friday” either. Just a more or less regular day after a bad day yesterday. We had lots of accidents, white-outs and delays. I even got a free skate on the main intersection in London, ON thanks to the wind. Kind of scary with the cars coming. I also took a “Tour of the Universe” with gorgeous pictures at the Central Library.

I still have some grocery shopping to do today.

Bye for now. Still no computer of my own. I’m getting tired of this.

  23. Kim says:

I spent the day in my jammies on the computer. Oh, and I read a good book.

  24. Jennifer Yates says:

I spent the entire day in a car on the way back from my grandparents house! Now I am catching up on computer things! I am not much of a shopper.

  25. Emma S says:

    I totally went shopping!!!

I didn’t hit the mall until 10ish and it didn’t really get bad ’til I was leaving at about 2. And my Christmas shopping? Yeah, that’s just about finished.

    :bananadance:

    Good luck with the toilet!!

  26. MartyK says:

I’m afraid I blew my holiday budget today…ON MY CAR. Said car refused to start when I tried to leave for my turkey dinner, so I had her towed this morning and now she’s all decked out. Not with mistleoe and a string of lights, but a new starter and battery. I did make it to dinner–never let a little thing like stymied transportation stop me from getting to pumpkin pie πŸ˜‰ Good luck with your plumbing!

  27. Cheryl S. says:

Been fighting with my furnace now that it’s 19 degrees, windy and cold and I really need it. And went to the Christmas parade. Ah, life in the small town . . . lots of fire trucks and ambulances are the highlight of the parade. πŸ˜†

  28. Stacey115 says:

I avoided the stores. Nothing could drag me out of the house! We got 7 inches of snow.
    I made a 10 pound ham so I wouldn’t have to cook for a while. πŸ™‚

I read and reviewed a book. I am also trying to edit my own work. Grrr.

Hope everyone had a good day yesterday!

  29. Mary says:

    I’m writing a eulogy for a good friend. πŸ˜₯

  30. Jennifer says:

I worked in retail for many years and I refuse to go anywhere on Black Friday. I haven’t left my house.

When you say a toilet was destroyed that sounds really scary. Nope, I’m not gonna ask. :yuck:

  31. Jamie H. says:

Stayed home and wrote query letter and 2 page synopsis for an Intrigue I’m ready to submit. Fingers crossed!!!!

Love the Thanksgiving animal pic yesterday! :rotfl:

  32. Danica says:

Good luck with the new toilet. I went blind shopping with my mother, who needs new blinds. And then we went to watch my stepfather rope in some championship thing.

  33. Gina says:

I slept in and stayed in today. Not one that is much for the crowds anymore.

  34. catslady says:

My daughter missed thanksgiving because of the weather but she came 3 hrs. away today because she had an interview for when she graduates college. that was another 2 hrs. away and we got lost and my husband even stopped 3 times for directions – had some turkeys fly over our car – it was a long day but still enjoyable since we all were together which is rare any more. We got winter tires put on her car and back she goes early tomorrow. Sure hope the weather behaves at Christmas.

It’s 1:30 AM and I’m still doing her laundry! :hissyfit:

  35. TeresaH says:

I’m making pecan pies for dinner tomorrow since we are having our Thanksgiving late since that’s the only time my son and DIL could get up here. Since they came from TX it was worth waiting for…besides I have my granddaughter here!!!!

  36. Michelle says:

I enjoyed shopping on Black Friday and did get a few deals. Hugs on the toilet!
