Not A Blizzard, But!

Enough to build a snowman! A little bitty tiny one. And enough to scare me on the road. I was supposed to take my oldest son to an eye doctor appointment in Charleston yesterday morning. The road was totally covered and when the car in front of me slipped around backward and nearly hit the guardrail, I decided I was done. We went home. I scare easily! What about you?

I hate, HATE snow! Sure the kids may love it, but me? No thank you. I’m a huge wuss on snow covered roads. I read your earlier posts about your kids wanting a snow day and thought, “Hmm, I’d switch with you any day.”

  2. Estella Kissell says:

Snow scares me too, mostly because we don’t get a lot and most people don’t know how to drive in it. If at all possible I stay home when we have snow.

I suck at driving on snow. Always have. I need to move somewhere where there is no snow… Somewhere where it’s warm and sunny in the winter…

  4. Melissa says:

    I don’t like being in a car…period!

  5. Marcy says:

I don’t especially like driving in snow, but I’m good at it. I have to be since I’ve always lived in Michigan.

  6. Jill says:

I’m with Mel. Not a car person at all. But I have 4 wheel drive AND studded tires, so that helps . . .

If I see enough white to make a termite a pair of pants. I’m hibernating. I do not drive on snow. I used to live beside a main highway and saw far too many accidents on snowy pavement. I will do without something I want but not driving NO.

  8. Tori Lennox says:

I hate driving in snow. Too many times it’s taken hours to drive just a few miles.

  9. Jennifer says:

I’m from FL so it’s safer for everyone if I just stay home when it snows.

  10. Jorie says:

I live in a place where it makes sense to put on snow tires in winter. (Well, usually. This year we’re having spring in January, although maybe February will revert to winter.)

I swear by snow tires. I’ve seen other cars skidding around in slippery conditions while I’ve motored along just fine, if cautiously.

You were wise to turn back!

  11. Toni Anderson says:

I think if it looks dangerous you should stay home

We’ve had snow since early November and ice too. I slid for the first time yesterday–went straight through a stop sign! Sometimes it is better to have really cold temps and then we don’t get this melt and ice formation. It stinks!!

  12. mary beth says:

I hate driving on snow and ice, especially where I live.

  13. catslady says:

I don’t like to drive because I have no sense of direction and I don’t trust all these cell phone drivers lol but if it means being stuck in the house anymore and it’s not too far, I go for it. So far I’ve been lucky:yes:

Being from Texas and then living all of my adult life in Southern California, snow is something you don’t drive in. Heck, it’s something you don’t see unless you go skiing.

But it’s been terrible here. I mean, the temperature was only 61 degrees today. Think of how we’re suffering!

I’m going to get hit, aren’t I?

  15. Amy K. says:

The other drivers scare me. Glad you’re safe.

  16. Suzanne says:

My site was down most of the day due to bandwidth issues, but I will post the weekend contest first thing in the morning since I couldn’t get it up today!

  17. TeresaH says:

I don’t mind the snow, it’s the ice that gets me scared!!! (and other drivers, esp. when I see one driving in weather like that while talking on cell phones!)
Glad you made it home safely.

  18. ruby55 says:

I agree with Teresa–no ice, please!!

Since I moved away from Winnipeg, MB where the snow keeps packed most of the winter and you just have to keep getting *through* the snow and might skid at that time, I’ve lived in areas (Europe and Ontario) where you tend to get a lot of ice either through freezing rain or after a thaw. When I go into a skid here, my heart seems to stop.:hissyfit:

Drove in snow from 1970’s to 1980’s. Moved to Phoenix. Will NOT drive in snow ever again.
