Home again, home again.
Glory Bee: “I was just visiting.”
I love it when people call me and say, “Your cow is in my yard.”
It makes me feel like Such. A. Farmer.

I hate those calls!
I remember one about 10:30 at night right after DH had his heart attack.
Eleven Holstein heifers were on the neighbor and he insisted we come over and he would help us get them back.
That meant me struggling through knee-deep fescue with a flashlight across a jungle of woods driving the girls back through the hole in the fence.
DH had to sit in the truck and watch.

Your animal posts are so much fun to read. I have chickens that go “visiting” too. And I live in a small town. Once one of my neighbors called because one of our chickens was running the streets. Talk about embarrassing.

Hey, sometimes a young girl just needs to go out and see the world…you know, meet new people, make friends.

Julia, your post made me a laugh. I can just picture a chicken running the streets of a small town! 😆
Last night we had a knock at the door to tell us that Buttercup the calf was in the road. It’s the first time she has escaped. This morning I got the fun of walking (squish, squish, squish) the fence. I do like electric wire. So easy to fix!

That’s funny! No cows here, but we live in a regular old suburban neighborhood and we have chickens. Sometimes a couple get out, and I get neighbors knocking on my door letting me know they have chickens on their porch or in their yard. It’s funny and embarrassing at the same time.

Hmmm; have you consulted a bovine psychologist? I suspect Glory Bee’s behavior can be traced back to the fact that you had so much trouble determining her gender in the beginning!!!

We used to have sheep. Smart sheep. Smart like the velociraptors in Jurassic Park – the ones that kept testing the fences, looking for weak spots. Those sheep knew all of our neighbors. Then we got a guard llama and it turned out that the llama was worse than the sheep. One particular day I had a toddler by the hand and a baby on my back, chasing the sheep back down the road. And that is why we don’t have sheep [or a llama] anymore.
