Girl, Put Your Records On

Some of my favorite Girl Power comfort music….

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song, just go ahead, let your hair down. Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams, just go ahead, let your hair down. “Girl, Put Your Records On” — Corinne Bailey Rae

I’m gonna soak up the sun, while it’s still free, I’m gonna soak up the sun, before it goes out on me. Don’t have no master suite, but I’m still the king of me. “Soak Up the Sun” — Sheryl Crow

You’re wrong if you think you can walk right through my door. That is just so you, coming back when I’ve finally moved on. I’m already gone. There is nothing you can say. Sorry doesn’t cut it, babe. Take the hint and walk away ’cause I’m gone. Doesn’t matter what you do. It’s what you did that’s hurting you. All I needed was the truth, now I’m gone. What you see’s not what you get. “Gone” — Kelly Clarkson

I’m a lot to handle, if you don’t know trouble, I’m a hell of a scandal. Me, I’m a scene, I’m a drama queen, I’m the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen! “Best Damn Thing” — Avril Lavigne

It’s gonna be all right, no matter what they say. It’s gonna be a good day, just wait and see. It’s gonna be okay, cause I’m okay with me. It’s gonna be, it’s gonna be okay. As long as we laugh, laugh like we’re mad, cause this crazy mixed up beauty is all that we have. Get back in bed, turn off the TV. It’ll be all right, just wait and see. “Good Day” — Jewel

Your turn! Tell me your favorite feel-good music…..

I thought maybe we would see a tongue piercing. 😆

Feel-good music for me is a lot of classic rock by various artists, any John Mellencamp, certain classical pieces, a lot of jazz, some choral, Native American/First Nations and/or African drumming/chanting, other world beat music…I’m fairly eclectic in my tastes, I guess.

My favorite song is “You are my sunshine my only sunshine” as my daddy always sang that to me when I was little. Then he sang it to my neice when she was little. I never hear that song I don’t think of my Dad. Same way with “In the Garden” – only now I have to think of him in that Garden walking with Jesus.
I love the Happy Goodmans, Gaithers, and McKameys.

Let’s see, Elvis. Steamroller Blues never ceases to put a smile on my face. Kid Rock’s Cowboy. Criss Angel’s Mindfreak theme. Madonna’s Express Yourself. Cher. oh and Hold My Beer While I Kiss Your Girlfriend that’s always a good one  Tim McGraw’s Do You Want Fries With That

  7. Ellen says:

There are hundreds of songs I enjoy that way – mostly older music though. The other day, I listened to my Eva Cassidy CD and remembered why I love her voice so much.

  8. Fannie M Wiggins says:

I grew up listening to country music but now I enjoy all types. My feel good music would be Chris Issac, Lorrie Morgan, Journey, Martina McBride, Hank Williams and JC Hall. I hope everyone has a great day and  to all.

  9. Brandy says:

I like all types of music and depending on my mood is what I listen to. If I want to feel peaceful, it’s classical music or celtic music. If I want to feel pumped up where I can whip through cleaning, its hard rock and if I want to smile while internet surfing, it’s Indigo Girls. I have an eclectic collection. *G*

Hope you’re having a great day!

  10. Dru says:

My music selection depends on the mood that I want to focus on, but I like anything with a good beat.

  11. Cheryl S. says:

I also like Corinne Bailey Rae. Another favorite is K. T. Tunstall.

  12. Marty says:

To relax, I use everything from Etta James and Patsy Cline to Eastmountainsouth and Aimee Mann 🙂 I love music!

  13. Ashley says:

Hmm.. how ’bout “Wind it Up” by Gwen Stefani or “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress” by Rockapella or “Shriner’s Convention” by Ray Stevens (for the sheer silliness factor)..
