Here is where I am now, on a beautiful, warm fall day in North Carolina. But on Saturday morning we pack up and head for the Outer Banks for a week! We have a house right on the ocean. Me, ocean waves, the family, the dogs….. Yes, the dogs get a vacation, too!! The house allows pets. By Saturday evening, I’ll be walking the dogs in the surf, breathing the salt air, dreaming of never going home again…….
Here’s the beach house. It’s called Sandbox Cottage. Isn’t that cute? Three bedrooms, satellite TV, deck with hot tub and walkway to the beach. It’s fully-equipped–all we have to bring are groceries and ourselves. I’m looking forward to going out to buy fresh seafood every night and getting up every morning to watch sunrise over the ocean.
Here’s the view of the walkway from the house to the water. I’ll be reading, watching the kids play in the surf, and doing as much nothing as I can stand. When we are tired of doing nothing, we’ll go out to see the lighthouses and the wild horses. This is my idea of vacation. Doing NOTHING as much as possible.
There’s a phone line in the house so I should be able to blog with pictures, so come back to see! And don’t forget that tomorrow is Free Book Friday!

I want your vacation. I need your vacation. How about you take my nanny for a couple of days and I take the beach house? Fair trade, don’t you think!

Pssst Buttercup – the idea is to get into the suitcase before she leaves, not when she gets back.
Looks like the ideal vacation Suzanne – I’m jealous. So relaxing – good for the soul.

It’s so beautiful and different from anything we have here that it’s a whole other planet. The closest I’ve come to anywhere near here is Williamsburg, VA. Is this Ocracoke Is. or are there others that have the wild horses, too?
Have a wonderful, relaxing time. For us it’s starting to be maple red color time. Busloads are journeying up to north of where my sister’s family has the lodge. They serve brunches for buses coming from Toronto and elsewhere as they go to see the changing leaves and the cranberry bogs. (you don’t have a red maple leaf?)

This is a different part of the Outer Banks where there are also wild horses. Ocracoke Island is the southern end of the Outer Banks and where we are going now is to Carova Beach, the very northern tip of the Outer Banks.
