Morgan rode Zip!
Yeah, yeah, there’s still a halter on her, too, but Morgan got a little flustered getting the bridle on and finally just left the halter on along with it. She took only a short ride in circles around the barn yard, but it was a giant step forward in regaining her confidence after being bucked off Patriot. Zip was calm and wonderful, and it was a good start!
And!
Coco is back in the goat yard part-time, daytime only. She was starting to look pretty bored in the house, and wanted to go for longer and longer walks, reluctant to go back inside. She’s doing well and is ready for some limited activity outside on her own. I have her in the goat yard by herself, just with the goats, no Chloe right now. For one thing, Chloe is a bit too rambunctious with the babies, and for another, I don’t want Coco loose in a field with another dog where she might be tempted to play too hard. Coco is still coming back to the house at night–and I might continue to bring her back to the house at night. I like having Coco in the house at night with me. It makes me feel safe. Soon enough, I’ll be able to get Chloe back to the goat yard and she can be the night-time guard for the animals. Meanwhile, Coco has finally started going up the stairs inside the house and sleeps by my bed. I like that!
And! And!
I had a couple of teenagers over this weekend with weedeaters and things are looking a lot tidier around here.

Good job Morgan and Zip! They say if you get thrown, get right back on. That’s not as easy as it sounds. You look great up there! (Why is there no horse icon? Suzanne?)
I have a mammoth donkey who is afraid of his own shadow. He spooks at the slightest thing, making him a bit dangerous. He is afraid of all buckets except green ones. Today I got him to drink from a dark blue bucket. We had a moment, not as monumental a moment as you had but still a moment! Keep working your beautiful horses. As long as we are making forward progress, even the slightest step, it’s still progress. Before long your Mom will be posting video of you galloping across the pasture on your worthy steed. Our dear equines with questionable backgrounds need kind people to love them and to help them overcome obstacles and reach their full potential. I wish you luck with Patriot and Zip.

Yea, Morgan! Way to go! Zip is a sweetheart to help Morgan regain confidence. Glad to see Coco looking so happy to be back with her goats. I would let her sleep in the house at night as long as she wants to.

Hooray for Zip and Morgan. Great move. Somehow Zip will let Patriot know that Moran is cool, even if she leaves the halter on.
And, congrats to you for understanding Coco’s wish to be back with her goaties. A nighttime Big Puppy Rug is just the thing to finish decorating your beautiful bedroom.

Lots of people leave the halter on under the bridle. Don’t worry about it. My dd hopped on my mare yesterday with just a halter and rope and went trailing for a couple of hours!

Yeah, the halter being on too is no biggie. Have a nice ride and enjoy it without worrying about such things. 🙂
