We woke up yesterday morning to a fresh foot of snow. The goats and Poky are late risers, so the chickens have to do the advance work re-forging the path to the tree and back.

Knowing how “the staff” feels about snow, I am shocked to see them blazing a new trail in the freshly fallen snow. Maybe they have resigned themselves to all that cold white stuff.

Good on the early bird girls! I’m feeling a connection…that’s just what I was doing yesterday…stomping a path through the snow to the bird feeder tray and other places :hole: We have about 2 feet on the ground here in “Snowville” and snowbanks that are taller than me. Thank heavens for a tractor to plow the driveway! :snowman:

What funny chickens. We got more snow here too. It does not want to stop. We got at least another 6 inches. We have paths dug for us and the dog. He will not go off the path because the snow is taller than he is right now. lol.

Such intrepid chickens!! My girls take one look at a snowy yard and cower in the coop! I have to actually sweep the snow off a portion of their yard so they can see earth beneath or they won’t go out. Your “staff” is really on the ball!

I get the biggest kick out of your daily farm photos. Of course, here in Southern California we don’t get snow…so these posts are extra humorous to me. My kitties wouldn’t know what to do if white stuff started falling from the sky.

Can anyone explain animal behavior? I saw your Feb 21 photos of the different animals walking in a line to the feed area, why do they do that? and a few days later, the sheep and donkey walking away, but that REBEL goat!! off the beaten trail!! how dare she? just was wondering if anyone could explain the nature of animals and why they walk in lines like that…

When I was a young teenager I would always visit my grandparents in Colfax, WV. One summer my grandma decided to strip the finish off an old coffee table she had and of since she was one of those pioneer women who made due with what she had…she reached for the lye can. Lye can be used to strip paint…it can be used to strip skin :woof: It can be used to make soap. But with grandma that was the summer we used it to strip paint. It was a tiresome project but it worked and she knew exactly what she was doing. I sure didn’t! You Miss Suzanne are one of those same kind of pioneer women who stops at nothing.
