We have been wildly, out-of-control busy here preparing for the big event this Saturday. This is our biggest party on the farm ever, with more events and more attendees, and more cleaning. I have overnight company coming starting today who will be helping with the party, and, along with cleaning and other preparations, I’ve been cooking in advance so we can just have fun. Tuesday night, I managed homemade Hamburger Helper, which is my go-to short-order meal. I was too far gone for even that last night and when we stopped by Wal-Mart after I picked the kids up from their practices, I got store-bought frozen pizzas.
I’m a real person. I’m just sayin’.
(Weston and Morgan were really excited. They couldn’t remember the last time they got to have store-bought frozen pizza! It was an event!)

Kinda weird, but we had a Walmart pizza last night too. Hubby was coming home from another load of things to new place (moving), and he said they didn’t look too bad. I agreed as I was way too tired to cook. It wasn’t half bad! I added a few sliced jalepenos and some black olives. Cut mine with scissors. Hey, for $5, I’ll do it again. Have a great party.

If you are having the Old-Testament rains that we are having in North Carolina, you might want to buy a few extra umbrellas and ponchos while you are out! Your guests are gonna see Noah’s ark in action! You seem like such a good hostess that nobody will even realize it is raining!

Sounds like a fabulous party coming!!
I’m a “real” person too! We bought 2 doz frozen TV dinners on sale last week! We eat them too, on those days when we’re just too busy or tired after hanging tobacco or bringing in the squash or hauling manure… Sometimes we eat frozen storebought pizza too or get an already roasted chicken from Costco. That looks pretty good for store bought pizza!

It’s too funny what kids think about food sometimes. In the rush of having to much to do I took my son and nephew to the store with me one night to get a few groceries. Thought I could get them something quick to tide them over and asked my 7 year old nephew if he liked frozen pizza. He told me straight-faced and seriously ‘No, I only like it cooked’…..I couldn’t quit laughing for the longest time after it hit me, my son just rolled his eyes at both of us.

There’s nothing wrong with a Sam’s/Walmart pizza every now and then. I think that their take-and-bake pizza’s are quite tasty, however nothing can rival homemade anything. Good luck with the shindig! :hungry2:

I actually stopped at Subway last night for my kids’ dinner – and I never do that! Then I feel guilty, because I didn’t make dinner for them myself. But I didn’t have the time nor the energy last night.

I will tell you what my mother tells me when I kill myself around the holidays preparing for company……they are coming to see you…not to analyze your housekeeping skills. Try not to wear yourself out!
and on the store bought pizza………..just shows your human like the rest of us! :snoopy:

My son and husband would eat Wal Mart pizza every night if I let them. They like the ones that are not frozen that you buy in the deli section. I don’t love pizza, but they aren’t too bad.
I leave tomorrow to head your way and to other parts for 10 days, I am sure they will eat lots of pizza.

Oh, Suzanne, please don’t wear yourself to a frazzle. We need you to be fresh and rested so you can take tons of photos to show us. But, I know how it is (sigh), there is always a mental list of “things” I want to get done before anyone arrives. So, do as I say, not as I do. I hope someone else will be taking photos, too, and will get pictures of you. But, I can see it now: Who is that strange woman with a face that looks like a camera?! And, where is Suzanne?!

Aren’t kids funny! I used to make a lot of homemade soups and the guys always begged to just get Campbells. Now that they’ve grown up, they love my homemade soups and always want a special one for holidays. AND, their craving for white bread instead of whole wheat or multigrain has morphed into “wanting the GOOD bread”. They never appreciate what they have until they don’t have it anymore.

My family says the same thing… Your guests are coming to see you, not to evaluate your housekeeping skills. But if you’re like me, that great advice doesn’t really sink in. I go into a cleaning frenzy before I host anything. AND I’ll eat frozen pizza, or any frozen thing I have to, in order to get the job done.
HOWEVER, please don’t wear yourself out to the point where you can’t enjoy the party. I wish I could be there. Maybe next year. 😕

I wanna come to your party!!!!!!!! Too far away though. Have loads of fun.
Someday when we’re older and wiser maybe we’ll give up on trying to clean up for company and let them take us as we truly are. It does feel good to whip things into shape though, doesn’t it?
