Hell must have frozen over! The sale of raw milk through herd shares is now legal in West Virginia! Senate Bill 387 was signed by West Virginia Governor Tomblin yesterday.
See the bill here.
With four cows calving this spring–and two of them dairy cows–yes, I am definitely going to be looking into selling herd shares this spring!

That sounds really interesting. You posted a while back about how you pasteurize your milk. Will you continue to pasteurize the herd share milk or will you leave it unpasteurized (which I assume is what is meant by “raw”)? Just curious.

I haven’t pasteurized my milk in years, actually! That post was from several years back.

That is awesome news!!
I’m adding WV to our possible “move to” states now. Here in Calif. you can buy it in stores, but it comes with a hefty price tag of $15 a gallon  . Highway robbery! We can’t afford that.

The only way we can buy raw milk is from a farmer that will sell it “under the table” which in my opinion in absurd with all of the other thing the government allows in the foods we eat.
