I would have helped out in the power tools class, but I didn’t want to show up my cousin with my superior knowledge, you know. (Responding to a question in the comments yesterday–my cousin Mark is teaching the power tools class.)
Friday was an amazing day, so wonderful. Today is another day! (I mentioned that in the kitchen last night–tomorrow is another day!–and I’m not sure if the kitchen staff found that encouraging or discouraging! Our kitchen people are one hardworking, fantastic bunch who persevere against all odds and bear up bravely against constant intrusions in the kitchen from cooking workshops.) I darted in and out of as many workshops as I could for seconds at a time with my camera, but it’s late Friday night as I set this post for Saturday morning. After a busy day on my feet at the retreat, I don’t have it left in me to post a full array of photos. (I gave it all at the retreat today!) I promise the photos are coming!
Rain has been in the forecast for Sunday, party day, but as we draw closer to Sunday, the forecast is pushing the rain off to Sunday night, so crossing fingers for a fabulous, sunny party day. It can rain all it wants after 7 pm!

Give yourself a break and enjoy (as much as possible) the retreat! I know it’s hard when you are trying to keep everything organized and trying to make sure you have everything you need for everything, but try! Enjoy and have fun, take pictures that we can see later and you can spend some time remembering all the fun. It will make for great cold weather reading time. Maybe after I retire I’ll be able to come to at least one retreat. Here’s hoping.

Your Cousin Mark is such a good sport. I know all of you will “be dead on your feet” by the end of the party at the farm after the retreat. This is all such a big deal. You and all your helpers are such dears to do this for your readers.

It’s true. I can’t wait to see pictures! But those of us who have to live vicariously through your blog and cannot attend, would rather you have tons of fun and not worry about having to post during this busy, fun time! We really *can* wait. Please enjoy yourself to the max!! You deserve it!!

Hah! I didn’t even take the power tool class and got to use them in TWO other classes! See – it’s not all about cooking and canning and spinning and sewing and making breads and wonderful creams any more!
GuessI’m going to have to attend next year. STILL haven’t gotten to attend a cheesemaking class!
Oh, and the jerky we made was outstanding. :snoopy:

It was a pleasure to see you again, Suzanne, and to tell stories for the retreat last night. I would have loved to come to the party today but we were setting the last logs in place for the log room we’re building with the old cabin we tore down last year–my cooking skills were needed for the work crew! I hope all went well; it was a gorgeous day to wrap up the retreat. Heather, Cindy and all, I hope to see you again sometime along the road.
