Buttercup turns 17 this year. He is, by far, the oldest of my cats, perhaps due to his excessive (even for a cat) paranoid personality. His age is starting to show–he doesn’t like the cold, and this winter he has decided to stop going outside altogether. He also decided to take up naps on top of my printer. To keep cat hair off the printer, I drape a towel over it now.
The old man gets whatever he wants.

As it should be. 🙂

Buttercup and I have a lot in common, although I don’t sleep on the printer—yet!

Sleeping on the printer, a great way to retire in his old age.

My cats gravitate to the printer and the laptop when I’m in my home office working. My girl BG loves to flop over on the keyboard because I’m not paying enough attention to her.

For Christmas (like they even care) I got each of my two cats a heated, fleece-covered sleep pad. At first they were suspicious, but eventually understood. Now they spend the entire day on their pads, except when clammering at me for a feed. They are both 15 this year and enjoy their retirement, just like Buttercup.
I saw a mouse in the laundry room a few days ago. I bet he’ll make it through the winter if the traps don’t get him. Retirement is serious business for a cat.
