That Was Fun

I love cows.

I even love naughty cows.

Cows are such over-sized rascals.

Saturday night, Skip’s cows were out and I could see him across the river, from my porch, shining lights and hollering at his cows, trying to herd them together and drive them back up the road to his farm in the dark. Yesterday morning, they were out again, down the road, in somebody else’s yard. He hadn’t had time to walk his fences all the way yet to find the problem. I felt a little sorry for him so I got in my Explorer and drove down there to help. Actually, I just wanted in on the action. I can’t help myself. I always think it’s hilarious when other people’s cows are out.

That’s because they’re not my cows.

My cows are well-behaved.

Especially this one.

Okay, maybe I think it’s so funny because I have cows and my cows have been out and somehow that is usually funny, too. And annoying. Which is why it’s just pure fun when it’s somebody else’s. All the fun, none of the annoyance!

It was the highlight of my weekend! I helped Skip drive his cows up the road then I went back to my porch

to
wait
for
them
to
get
out
again.

:snoopy: Oh too funny. You are a COW chaser instead of a ambulance chaser. I would be too if given the chance. Such pretty cows. Happy Monday!

I agree; much better to chase the neighbor’s cows than ours! That means they get to find and repair fence; not us…

Bulls getting out is the worst! They never cooperate.

I think your cows are not the only ones who are naughty, lol.

you’re too funny. I can relate with my girls escaping the back yard and trackin them down… it always makes for a good show, just need a chair and some popcorn ( and maybe someone to charge admission). Love the last picture of glory bee. she’s so stinkin cute.

Hahaha! I hope my (soon to be aquired) cow doesn’t escape…there’s a busy road nearby. Hmmm…. it WOULD be funny if someone else’s cows got out, though. And, I hate to tell you, It’s always funny when YOUR cows get out!! 😆

Well, all I do is sympathize with you when your cows get out because it is never funny when ours get out…..even though we got a call yesterday (during my rest-ha). Some of them were out again… When they saw the truck coming they high tailed it to the hole in the fence and went where they belonged. When it isn’t dark and we aren’t too tired it can be good.

Well, when other people’s cows get out, it proves that yours getting out now and then isn’t so horrible! Just part of living in the country to come home from work and find a neighbor’s cow in the shrubbery! :moo:

Cattle getting out aren’t much fun. I remember one very foggy EARLY morning, still in bed.. both of us could feel the ground shaking. What it was, were 18, 1000lb fat cattle running past the house, on the lane… and out to the road. Our laneway is .5km long… and as soon as I looked out my window, in the fog.. they were gone! I ran outside in just a nightshirt, grabbed a bridle, hopped on my horse, and galloped out the lane. (just a nightshirt.. not even underwear… gross). I was so upset that they would get hit on the road.. as we live on a busy hwy. When I got to the road, they weren’t anywhere in sight. I road up and down the sidewalk in our little village.. trying to listen to where they may have gone. You couldn’t see 20 feet ahead of my horses ears. Finally I decided to look straight across the road of the farm there. The farmer had them cornered by his barn, against a fence on 2 sides. What they were doing, were turning round and round in his little garden plot. All I could smell were onions. By this time, my husband was there, and opened the gate into his pasture. Then the task of sorting our cattle from his.. and of course, lots of bullying was going on.. because of the newcomers. I had to bring garden produce over to that family all summer long. I was glad to see them ALL go to slaughter that fall.

Hi, I’m a n00b, I hope to get to the intro thread later today…but I have a sec now and I have to ask what *IS* that thing in your cow’s nose?

As I said I hope to get to the intro later and will then fully divulge what a complete novice I am at most of the goings-on here (but also how absolutely in love with it all I am). Thus, I apologize if that is a wholly daft thing to ask. 🙂
