I thought since Suzanne shared her first dusting of snow today…we needed a snow ice cream recipe. My mother used to make this for me and I used to get tickled how she would remind me, smiling, to get CLEAN snow..no yellow snow.

                                        Snow Ice Cream

clean white snow

milk

vanilla extract (Suzanne's homemade preferably)

sugar

Put some snow in a bowl..the amt. you desire to eat. Add a little milk (not too much – you can add more, but not take away), 1/2  or 1 tsp. vanilla extract (depending on your taste), little sugar (to your taste)…voila! Ice cream!

I'm going outside right now and wait for some snow cause I always wanted some of this but never had a recipe. In fact I didnt even know there was one, I just heard about it once. But I'm going to look for snow, cause a cold front came in this afternoon and it should get down to almost the 40's tonight. You dont know…it could happen!!!!

This is my Nanny's recipe for Snow Ice Cream,   We have always loved it!

4 cups clean, fresh snow

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 Tbsp sugar

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract or 2 Tbsp. Chocolate syrup

Have the cream ready and have all ingedients laid out  (the snow gets yucky fast)

Take your Plastic or metal mixing bowl  and your measuring cup outside. Work quickly, take snow inside and gently stir in above ingredients. This makes 2 servingsSmile

I lived in Pa. for a while and a girlfriend told me to use a can of sweetened condensed milk and snow to make snow cream.  It is a little richer but great for little ones who can't wait.  No measuring.

Yup!  We use sweetened condensed milk and a teaspoon or two of vanilla… and fill our biggest mixing bowl to the brim with snow.  Any leftovers store perfectly in the freezer.   The girls each get a spoon and sit on the kitchen floor to stir it (and eat it) because it makes a mess!

Oh how I wish for litltle ones to sit in the kitchen floor.  I miss the days of snow cream and home made play dough on a cold winter day.  My youngest is in college and the eldest is out on her own, living the dream.  Maybe someday I will have grandchildren.
