Rilysmom!  Absolutely they are GREAT overnight in the fridge then baked the next AM.  Just put them in after one rising, then take them out in the am and let them come to room temp.  They are great that way!

I'm here to report that "you were right!"  BuckeyeGirl!   (do you want me to tell your family, too? Just in case you don't get to hear that phrase very often…..heee heee!)

Since there are no jelly rolls or paczki available within 100 miles…..I settled on making more cinnamon rolls….and put them in the fridge overnight.  And they are GREAT!  I thank you again! That makes it soooo easy!

LOL, no my Pop is very appreciative of any sweets he gets.  He is a diabetic, under control though, no more insulin because I don't let him overindulge, but he gets something sweet and good almost every day, he just doesn't get to eat the whole cake or pie at once is all!  (he also gets lots of veggies and fruit, as many whole grain products as possible, and a good balanced diet etc)

Anyway, I gotta say, my Grandmothers, neither of them ever filled thier paczki!  They were just rolled in cinnamon sugar, and made smallish too, so you could dip them in your coffee.  On tv this morning, they showed these giant paczki filled with about a half a cup of jelly!  HOW is anyone supposed to eat that?  Crazy!  Bigger is NOT better folks!

I may need to make some for tonight, my Pop will really enjoy that, even if they aren't all that good for him, two small ones may be on his diet tonight, and a couple more tomorrow morning.  Yes, I know it's lent, but at 93 he's allowed to bend the rules, even our priest said so!  The elderly get a bit of a break and he really needs to gain a few pounds.

I agree with your thoughts about your Dad….mine was diabetic and loved sweets (he would snatch chocolate chips from the bag!).    At 93…..he deserves it!

A half cup of jelly!?!?!  Wowzers…..you would make a big, sticky mess…..good, but messy!

BuckeyeGirl.. my cheeks hurt from the big smile on my face (!) as I read through your blog. How awesome for you to have your PoP there with you. Such a treasure. I miss my folks so. My dad was a sweets fella too…as is Ed. I am with you, bigger definitely is not better. Glad your sweet is going to get some sweets tonight and tomorrow. I use to make paczki, we weren't into the 1/2 cup jelly either.. we'd roll in cinnamon sugar as well… yum   snuggle

hello all.. I am so excited.. I just caught site of a pine warbler at my feeder today. I am sure he's been here before, but this is the first time in a long time that I caught site.  yes   I took a walk around the yard earlier, felt good to get out..beautiful day to be outdoors. Spring is in the air, but know winter is still letting me know it's still here as well. Hope all are having a grand day today.  snuggle

Welp, after my last post, I thought I'd go back outside a bit, perhaps walk up and down the driveway again, me 'n my handy dandy cane.. hmmm.. must of been the spring bug whispering in my ear, to go a bit further this time.. so I headed down the road for a stroll.. for the first time in just over a year, I covered close to 3/4 mile. .. note to self.. although it may seem like spring.. IT IS NOT! .. next time wear a hat and gloves.. did well the first half but coming back with the wind a blowing, made for frozen fingers and ears.. BUT.. there was quite a chorus in the neighbors back 40 of blackbirds congregating in his trees..is it possible the red winged blackbirds are back?? Last year it wasn't till Mar. 7 that they returned.. or is this wishful thinking on my part??  yes bug-eyed wink

I thought going out for a long walk and realizing on the looonnnnnger way back, that you're fighting the wind only happened to us!  Heck, I keep my gloves and hat on me til May!

Right now it's sunny, 40* and heavy flurries!  And turkeys in the front!

Nobody gets everything do they? Some days when you all are talking chickens, and gardens, baking bread and stoking fires and I am pouting, I must remember days like today. It was glorious! I had sunshine and beautiful breezes all day. The painted buntings and hummingbirds are still here but I know that all too soon they will be gone and headed your way! You throw a log on for me and tomorrow I will go barefoot for you!

dee58m—the birds are tentatively coming back…I've had a robin singing outside my office window on the sunny day we had . The urban parrots are back (stayed even all last snowy winter). Junco and others. Someone's snarfing down suet like there's no tomorrow! No RW blackbirds yet.

There's talk on canning sites about the wide mouth Pint & a Half jars being available from Ball again!  Such a useful size! I've always loved those things!  Everyplace has them on back-order though.
