Pete, I'm afraid that girls these days still obsess over the same things.  One of the nieces found the PERFECT dress for her prom at a department store in her fairly large hometown.  When they tried to purchase it, the sales lady asked what school's prom she was attending.  A list was then consulted, and it was discovered that someone else had purchased the same style to wear to that prom, and the store would not sell them the dress.  They finally went to Atlanta to find her another dress.

I never wore the same dress as someone else but my date wore the same tux. It would not have been that bad but it was like a 1920's style zuit suit!

I only went to my junior prom, after being on the committee and seeing all of the politics (high school) I didn't want to pay for it, it was 35 a ticket then the dress and everything that went with it.

One of my girlfriends went, she had already dropped out so it was a little taboo that she did go, but I think the main reason she went was because it was taboo, she was about 7 months pregnant with her son. I remember walking in with her. Wow the looks that she got…haha. My husband went to all of his, and always had a big party back at his house afterwards (very very lenient parents) Said he had a good time, I am 5 years younger than him and lived in a different town so I didn't know him until I was already way out of high school.

Part of me wishes I had gone to my senior one, but hey I have a daughter…lol.
