Today I went through my coupon binder and gathered all my expired coupons, and added them to the growing pile I have had going and packaged them up, filled out a customs form and got them ready to mail off to Germany to my "adopted overseas military family".

Did you know they can use coupons for another 6 months after they expire here, in their overseas commissaries? I just recently found that out. My son-in-law is in the military now, (stateside) and my daughter used to be, so it was right up my alley.

I don't think there are any debates on tonight so I am going to relax until those Gold Rush shows come on. Gotta do a little DH time.  :  ) hug

Happy belated anniversary wishes to you JoJo.. hope you had a lovely sun filled day.

I was very lazy today. It was one of those days that motivation failed me. happy-feet  Sweet hubby and I went into town to use broadband at a little coffee shop, we are stuck on dial up for awhile yet. Treated ourselves to a chai latte and had some down time there.

Will make up for today tomorrow. We will be building barn wood mirrors for the rest of the weekend. snuggle

No more than I have to!  Today is the 50th anniversary of my 21st birthday and the plan is to read, knit/crochet/embroider, etc and enjoy a lobster dinner provided by my loving DH of nearly 50 years!

Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like you do when no one is watching.

Working on an assignment…work for hire!!! It's been a very, very lean year/half, what with the economy and government cuts, etc. Of course, it's gonna make it difficult to complain about any unreasonable client demands! (so far so good)

We had a meeting this morning.  This afternoon I am going to get the kitchen cleaned out so that we can start the renovation projects.  The first one is to get the popcorn ceiling off (my job) and go from there (ceramic tile countertops and backsplash, paint, then ceramic tile on floor).  It is going to have to be done in stages because we still have to use it.

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and wound up watching some do it yourself program where they took that ceiling texture off.

They sprayed it with one of those pump up sprayers that probably holds about 3 gallons of water, using a mixture of water with about a half a cup of fabric softener in it.  Sprayed it down REALLY well, but not dripping, went over it twice in fact so it really sunk in well… then they had this attachment on the end of a pole that was a scraper thing with clamps to hold a plastic bag.  They just ran it along the ceiling and the texture junk just fell right into the trash bag.

It was SWEET!  Hardly ANY mess fell on the floor or counters etc.  This was a wonderful looking thing.  It had a square blade looking center with an outer clamp part for the trash bag, just a standard kitchen trash bag seemed to work.

I guess I don't have to warn about asbestos, or at least that you should wear goggles and a face mask right?  Sorry, in another life I was the safety officer in my unit.  I used to keep people more scared of me catching them being unsafe than afraid of hurting themselves by being unsafe!  I just can't help myself!  Please forgive me for warning you about things you're probably very well aware of. lips-are-sealed  I really do care about all the peeps here!

I have a "safety officer" living in my house, too.  He keeps me pretty much on the straight and narrow safety path. The asbestos isn't an issue.  I have tried the pump sprayer before and it just didn't work for me.  I use a spray bottle and a putty knife.  Because it is wet there isn't too much dust just little bits of stuff that is a pain to clean but I use a shop vacuum which works better than a regular vacuum (ask me how I know that LOL).  I use contractor trash bags left over from another project and have opened them up to protect the walls and cabinets.

Glad to know that I am not the only one who wakes up in the middle of the night and watches DIY programs.happy-flower

Congrats to Mamawolf. Enjoy your day.

BuckeyeGirl,

I sure wish I had known about this blog when we re-did our porch ceilings. That method you saw on the DIY show would have been great to try. Trash bag attatchment, genius. My reason for doing it in the first place was because we have so much humidity in FL it was already shedding, so at least I didn't have to soak it.

Mamajhk,

Good luck on your project !

This morning I cut up for freezing and stock making twenty pounds of chicken leg quarter that I bought yesterday for 49 cents per pound. Made a batch of baked custards for Nancy and I am about to go food shopping . When I get home I will pick the meat from the backs that are cooking. After that we'll see.

Project one of the kitchen renovation is done.  I just finished painting the kitchen ceiling and am waiting for the lights to cool down so that I can give them a good cleaning.  Also will clean the outside areas of the refrigerator.

You remind me that ours needs changing too!  Since I'm the one to do it though, I always use rags that don't matter if they get covered with well water mineral, charcoal filter covered yuck it won't matter.  I'll soak and wash them, but it won't matter that they won't ever come clean!

Oh, and I just came in from fixing one of the feeders, hauling water to the chickens, taking the dog(10 month old puppy really) for a good run and checking on other things.

Now to get busy on dinner.
