I spent a crazy amount of time making some Wordles. If you want to give it a go, you need to have java enabled on your computer for this, which some people don't like to do, but I trust my firewall so I do.
Anyway, it's at http://www.wordle.net/ and it's pretty interesting. I made a couple in honor of Chickens in the Road… I'll post the pictures, or this link should work.

Once you go there, you should be able to click on my name to see others I've made too. I did save some pics in case I couldn't link to there though…

They call them "Word Clouds" and I'll bet any of us could use the same sets of words and wind up with totally different 'clouds'

Ok, I have a proposal. If people make a wordle, and we ALL name it exactly the same thing, they will all show up under that name, but by different authors. If we all use our Chicken Names to save, they will all show up together and we can all see what CitR means to us.
Did that make sense?
I was naming all mine that were Chickens in the Road related as "In the Road" with a roman numeral designator, but I for this, we could all call them just plain CITR
I think there's a class project going on where a bunch of kids all made wordles called "animals" and it was very interesting to see what they all did, which is what made me think of this.

should we make a 'number of words' limit? I could fill pages of stuff otherwise! 50 words maybe?

Well, I found out a few things about Wordles. There's no way to retrieve any based on the title of the wordle, but we can all use the SAME username and title them with our Chicken username, then all our wordles will turn up in the same group.
If anyone wants to do this, when you save your CITR wordle, change the username you save it with to CITR, and title it with your name here.. in my case, BuckeyeGirl.
Also, you change the size of a word in a cloud by putting it in the list several times. So, if you wanted Clover's name to be bigest, put it in 5 times. She'd like that.
You may want numbers to get put it, (it usually excludes them) you have to go to the language tab and tell it you want numbers to print, you may also want the 'show common words' to be selected, that's up to you but I found it excluded some things I wanted in there otherwise.
I don't know if anyone wants to do this, I've been fascinated by it all off and on all day, it's cold and yucky and I've been taking cover. hehe. just in case though, here ya go

ROFL… I know you guys are sick of me, but if you go here http://www.wordle.net/gallery?…… you will see the wordles that Cindy and I created so far, and from there, if you play with the 'create' button, you can goof around with things and see what happens.
You can't hurt anything! Of course, once you save something it cannot be deleted either, but that just means play play play till you have something you like before you save anything and if you make a Chickens in the Road related Wordle, save it with the USERNAME of CITR (all caps) and it will go in this gallery.
The save feature is totally unrestricted, there is no sign in, or login, and nothing is protected, but it is very safe because it will save no code either.
Anyone could save anything under any name, which is why we can all save things as one 'username'.

They've been popping up on web sites lately and I wondered if they were just part of a platform, or something else entirely.
OK, I'll try one. Too bad you can't save one, then go back in and edit it. Or is that possible??

No, they can't be saved……….because you don't actually sign in or anything. Just create and save!

It IS nice!!! Very nice! but yeah, it's not in the CITR bunch so you'll have to make another one! It seems so fluid to me because you can't ever recreate one exactly really.
I make a list in a word doc and work from that, but they never turn out the same even if you use the same list of words.

YAY! And Farmgirlwannabe put one up too! NICE! See! It's really pretty interesting what turns up in them.
For anyone that is interested, putting a tilde, which is the ~ symbol, between words, makes them stick together, so Grandmother~Bread will show up on the wordle board together instead of getting broken up into two words.
I already said about putting a word in the list 2, 3 or more times makes them show up bigger and bigger, and you can fiddle with the colors, the font, and the general shape of the 'cloud' too.
