Candy Wreaths

I made candy wreaths last year for gifts for my children's classrooms.  They were easy and fun to make in the evenings when watching TV.  I used the metal rings that craft stores sell for making dream catchers.  I tried wire wreath forms first but the single circle of the dream catcher ring worked best.  I used Brach's Star Brite peppermints wrapped with two twisty ends.  You need candy with twisty ends to tie.  I then used red curling ribbon to tie the candies to the ring making sure to curl the ribbon.  When it  was well covered with candy I attached dollar store safety scissors with a long red ribbon and made a red ribbon hanger at the top.  I used real ribbon for the hanger because it supports more weight than the curling ribbon.  If you search candy wreaths on youtube there are some videos.

I have never made a wreath, but last year I used low temp hot glue to glue Hershey Kisses to a foam cone shape to make a tree. Very pretty when it's done and a good edible decoration for a buffet table!

That's a great idea! I am going to make some grapevine Christmas front door wreaths next week. I think a few candy canes tucked into the greenery would look on them.
