I'm about half-way done weaving an alpaca scarf in a beige and white shadow weave.

I made grapevine wreaths! I cut the grapevine and shaped it two falls ago and it has just sat on the porch since then. This past weekend I decided to use them and made them into wreaths and decorated three so far. These are indoor wreaths. I am going to cut the pine boughs for outdoor wreaths this week, if I get a chance. They have tiny gold balls on them but you can't see them very well in the pictures. The small pinecones and acorns are from my yard. I love using natural things from my home to decorate!  Here are two of the three I have decorated so far:

Very nice, Sheryl!  I, too, love the naturalness of outside brought inside…..just gives a cozy, homey feeling!

Those sure did turn out great!  Beautiful.

I did the same with making grapevine wreaths some years ago.  We have only a few left because they make terrific gifts.

Thanks so much guys!! I hope someone buys them at the craft party I am going to in a couple of weeks. They were fun to make. I am going to make some outdoor pine wreaths this coming week, weather permitting. I have to cut the branches in the forest next door.

I painted these sunflowers today on an old pine 1×8″ from the garage. These are for the craft party too. I cut it into pieces, sanded it and stained it this past week. I have never painted sunflowers before – wasn't sure how they would turn out. Next time I think I will just buy new wood. It will be a lot less work to clean up.

I like the wreaths a lot sheryl, but I LOVE those sunflowers!  I'm not big on seasonal decorations that need to be stored part of the year since I spent the last 20+ years being shipped there and back again courtesy of Uncle Sam, and now that I'm retired I have almost no storage space so I think I've just cultivated an attitude of 'nice but no thanks' about some things.  No offense meant at all, because those wreaths are VERY nice!

I have a very small box of treasured christmas decorations that is easily packed and toted.  Anything else I use is always found things from walks or the yard or wherever I'm at, a few of the tiny lights and maybe a trip to a local nursery or a market.

Now those sunflowers, those could be hung and admired all year long!  Winter and Spring to look forward to the summer, Summer to celebrate the day, and Fall to look at and remember fondly the season just past.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liek the sunflowers!

I don't keep a lot of Christmas decorations myself. The wreaths are going to be sold, except for one that hubby wants for the front of his school bus. (I have NO idea…)

We usually only have the Christmas tree which gets put away decorated. I just take it up to the spare room and set it in the corner, as is. It takes up the same space like that as it would in a box.

Ahh Haa!  so your card class was productive?  I love going to classes and sharing all those creative juices people slosh around at any craft class.  I wish I lived closer to someplace that offered such things… I should ask some of the ladies at church about gathering for something where we all share craft ideas etc.  This place is great, and I love you all, but being in the same room with people is very stimulating.

I learned to quilt at one overseas assingment at an MWR (Moral Welfare and Recreation) craft center and that lead to cross stitch, which lead to woodwork, which lead to… hehe, well you get the idea.  It was an assignment that was very popular with the young male personnel, but the females were less than impressed with the place as far as entertainment went.  The craft and community center was a godsend!

I later joined a quilt guild at my next assignment which was also very fun but got out of the habit at later places when my duties became more involved.  I SHOULD have been even more interested in joining outside groups that centered on healthy pursuits like crafting and sharing skills and knowledge.  Instead it all slipped away on me, shame, shame on me!!!  And HOORAY for Chickens in the Road!!!

I found a project in the Pennywise linkup I posted over in Links to Projects to do today.  I got the idea from Homebody.  Then I designed recipe cards in Photoshop to match the background.  This is going to be for Rach (the Betty Crocker DD).

and I printed out my favorite recipe!  John is going to build her a little recipe box to hold the recipes!

I'm going to make 1 for the other DD, but to hold photos (she cooks from the freezer with a microwave).

Thank you!

I also made a couple sets of coasters out of the tiles that aren't sealed.  I used a special laser film, then heat set, but this could easily be done by decoupaging and sealing.
