But dandlion wine would take care of all sorts of trace amounts of impurities. Want us to come up and help you figure out how to make it?

I think we should try making the wine. Homemade wine is good. My only concern, would we get yellow feet from stomping the flowers????

You are all welcome to come and see what you can do with the dandelions ….. what day should I plan for?? Remember I work full-time so this weekend doesn't work for me. How is Monday of next week looking for you??
In the meantime, I will 'look after' the dandelions.

They should be OK while you are at work. You can spend your time carefully cultivating them in your off hours. Monday looks good so far.
Are those surgical gloves stretchy enough for us to use on our feet? I'm not too keen on having yellow feet going into the summer season…

Carefully cultivating in my off hours. So, that would be between the hours of 7pm and 6 am. sounds about like the right hours for cultivationg dandelions. So I am going to go and put gas in the flamethrower … or er, I mean the the the ….. well, I do not mean flamethrower
I am thinking the little surgical booties might be more suited to the process.

If we did this right, maybe we could get some tie-dyed somethings going along with the stomping effort and stained feet avoidance?
Yum! Shells is making toasted dandelion for breakfast!

Hm, well, the dandelions will be toast but you may be interpreting that differently than I do.

There actually is a gizmo that does a pretty good job of removing dandelions … one at a time. It's got spikes (like nails) on the bottom that open and close when you push it into the ground. It's made of metal pipe, has a place to use your foot for more pressure and it does work. You set it directly over the plant, shove the spikes into the ground then pull the little close knob up. It appears to get all or most of the root. I've played with it out in the yard and it does quite well. It's slow, but in an hour or so you could pull up a lot of dandelions. If anyone is interested I'll take a pic of it and post it here.
Not NEARLY as exciting as a blow torch though!

Remember … at the end of the day … it gets dark.

Just saw this, Shells, and thought you might find some useful info at this link: http://tipnut.com/weed-killers/
Evidently, using salt on your driveway would be about as easy as the blowtorch!

Thanks for the site ….. I am going to try the pickling vinegar, I think my flower beds are too close to the drive to use the salt

Ah, yes that is a consideration, especially if the driveway is one of those that is humped up in the middle so it would drain into the beds. Ours, would not be an issue.
In fact, I'm seriously considering using the salt in our patio. It drains away from the beds and into a chunk of yard that is not particularly attractive anyway.
