I thought you guys might be interested in a link-up I am doing for home gardeners. I'm planning to keep track of my garden's output this year and try to figure a comparative monetary value for my crops (even though we all know homegrown beats the pants off of store-bought veggies anyday!)
I'd like for folks to participate in the weigh-in, but you are also welcome to link up blog posts just showing off your garden and how it is doing at the moment if you have nothing ready to harvest yet. If you don't blog, you can still participate in the weigh-in by leaving your numbers in the comments section.
We grow a big garden to can and preserve as much as we can to feed my family throughout the year. I try to limit what I buy from the grocery store and we're striving to be a little more self-sufficient with each passing year. I've been tracking my meatbirds and egg production for some time now and I thought it would be interesting to put a value to my fruit and veggie production too.
This link-up is for edible gardening (not flowers) and as long as you've put your own sweat equity into it, I'd love to hear how your garden is growing. For the record, I don't make any profit off of my blog, nor do I have any business to promote. This is strictly for fun and educational purposes and to promote community among fellow gardeners.
If you're interesting in weighing in with us, check it out here: http://onesunnyacre.blogspot.c…..-in-1.html We just started yesterday and this first weigh-in is open until next Monday.

OfflineCool! I'll try to participate….just a matter of remembering! I bought a fish scale to weigh my garden produce this year. Darling hubby just Hung a bracket for it in the screen porch. Now just to have something to weigh! A hail storm last week destroyed my squash and zucchini, but I have swiss chard and peppers and should be able to dig potatoes this weekend….tomatoes will be ready soon….I hope! Thanks for the link.
Hi pdelainey, I thought about that, because I know everybody's growing season is different. You are still welcome at this time to link up a post showing us how your garden is coming along.
You can do the weigh-in part as things come into season for you. I know I have several online gardening friends who have something to harvest nearly year-round, living in Florida or California. Depending on how much interest there is, I will probably run this weekly link-up until October…we'll take it a week at a time for now.
Sandra, that fish scale will surely come in handy. I have a digital kitchen scale and can only weight up to 11 lbs. at a time. For my watermelons, I'll have to jump on the bathroom scale with them. ![]()
Weigh-in #2 is up now!
You don't have to have a blog to weigh in with us, and you can still link up a post with pics/update of your garden for that week, even if you are not in harvest mode yet. I love "visiting" other folk's gardens and hope you guys can join in!
