Quote of the Day

I get daily quotes from the Foundation for a Better Life.  I'm a big quotes person, not that I can quote alot of them, but I collect them.

So I thought I'd start this thread so we could share inspiring and funny quotes to help us through our day.  Here's mine for today, courtesy of the Foundation for a Better Life. If you'd like to get their daily quotes, register here. http://www.values.com

I think it defines my philosophy on life since turning 40.  I wish someone would have told me this 30 years ago!

“Live life fully while you're here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You're going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don't try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.”

Thank you, Jayne, for the link!  I love quotes, can get lost in reading them, thinking on them…..

This quote would be a perfect one for a person's “life” scrapbook………

I have one that I like “A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song”

Maya Angelou

This one makes me smile, I need to sing more!!

Don't cry because it's over—smile because it happened!

I like both of those quotes Jayne and Jeannie B! Here's one:

LITTLE GIRLS DANCE

 THEIR WAY INTO YOUR HEART

WHIRLING ON THE TIPS OF ANGEL WINGS

SCATTERING GOLD DUST AND KISSES IN OUR PATHS.

Life is too important to be taken too seriously.

The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering.”

This is from a writing called “Desiderata”. I printed the whole thing, its only one page, to hang in my office. But I really like this part.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

Again from the Foundation….

“To dream anything that you want to dream. That's the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do. That is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits. That is the courage to succeed.”

My favorite quote doesn't exactly fit in with these inspiring, uplifting quotes, but , nevertheless, it comes in mighty handy sometimes. It's from the book and movie, Delores Claiborne, by Stephen King.

Sometimes, being a b**** is all a woman has to hold onto.

Spoken by Kathy Bates, my favorite actress.
